Buddha Dog

- Prince Edward County

Buddha Dog

Buddha Dog™ was founded in 2005 in a small agricultural community called Prince Edward County, Ontario in Canada. The idea was to bring together the best local suppliers - farmers, dairies, bakers, butchers, chefs, etc - to make an exceptional hotdog and let it represent the best of their region and culinary tradition. We weren't certain where our idea would go but we were recently named "Best Hotdog in Canada" by Readers Digest and this year we'll celebrate our fourth anniversary hosting visitors from across the country and around the world who have made the trip to taste our dogs, local cheeses and award winning sauces. In 2007 we opened our second shop in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, to bring the same local sensibility to a city's fast paced life and in the spring of 2009 we'll open our third shop in Collingwood, Ontario, another of Canada's most important agricultural areas and culinary tourism destinations. As always, our staff and partners promise each bite of a Buddha Dog will "Make you one with everything."

Oyster Boy

Oyster Boy

At Oyster Boy, we eat, live and breathe oysters. We love their hard shells, their smooth taste and that the un-class-conscious way they make themselves at home in a rowdy pub or a black tie affair. But more than anything, we love to share these magnificent mollusks and all their juicy secrets with the masses!

Ontario Cheese Society

Ontario Cheese Society

The Ontario Cheese Society (OCS) was launched in 2004 as a value chain based organization focused on the advancement and development of a strong local artisan and regional cheese industry in Ontario. The not for profit organization is membership driven consisting of cheesemakers (cow, goat and sheep); professionals (chefs, food writers, processors); supporting industry (suppliers, retailers, wholesalers); and enthusiasts (cheese lovers!!). By promoting artisan, farmstead and regional cheese to wholesalers, distributors, retailers, and consumers the OCS contributes to the development of a distinct and strong food culture in Ontario and supports the development of a vibrant and economically healthy artisan cheese segment to Ontario’s dairy industry.

Ninutik Maple Sugar

Ninutik Maple Sugar

Elegant, modern, distinctive - these are the words that describe the spirit of Ninutik gifts. Our intent is to present maple syrup - a Canadian cultural icon - through the lens of design, art and sugarmaking. Ninutik was created by Toronto industrial designers Dianne Croteau and Richard Brault, the founding partners of Studio Innova. For several years Dianne, Richard and their son Andre made small quantities of syrup from majestic sugar maples on protected land along the Niagara Escarpment. What started as a personal harvest soon evolved into a design exploration featuring maple syrup and sugar as the medium. In 2007 and 2008, Ninutik designs received an 'Award of Excellence' at Design Exchange Awards.
